School Development Plan

Cracoe and Rylstone VC C of E Primary School
School Development Plan 2008 – 2011
incorporating OfSTED Action Plan

Within the Christian environment of our Church of England School, it is our aim, in partnership with parents, the Governors and staff, to help our children:
• To enjoy learning and to become independent, self-disciplined and self-motivated and to achieve their full potential;
• To develop lively, enquiring and creative minds;
• To acquire knowledge, skills and training relevant to their own lives which will take them forward into adult life and employment in a rapidly changing world;
• To develop, recognise and value a sense of right and wrong and to understand the society in which they live and recognise their obligations towards it;
• To develop and act upon a personal set of values, beliefs and attitudes and to gain an understanding of and respect for the opinions of others, regardless of race, religion, way of life or point of view.

Our vision for the school by 2011 is that:
• We will have continued to build upon the high standards achieved and will continue to aspire to excellence in education for all.
• We will have continued to develop breadth and balance in our curriculum, ensuring excellence of teaching and enjoyment in learning.
• We will have maximised the potential of our expanded building and developed the outdoor areas of the school.
• We will have continued to keep pace with developments in ICT, to equip our learners for the technological age.

PRIORITIES FOR 2008 – 2009
With full regard to the Children and Young People’s Plan 2008-2011 our first priority is to ensure that our children are healthy, stay safe, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well-being. Within this central context, this year our specific priorities in school are:
Priority 1: To achieve the highest possible standards for all pupils, with a particular emphasis on English, mathematics and science.
Priority 2: To further develop the pupils’ writing skills through work in science, history and geography.
Priority 3: To further develop the pupils’ understanding and appreciation of other cultures.
Priority 4: To ensure that the Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (September 2008) is fully implemented.
